And Who Will Lead the GOP?

And Who Will Lead the GOP?
by Elaine Magliaro

Little Boy Blue,
Come blow your horn.
Mitt’s in the Meadow.
Mike Steele’s in the corn.
Rush is out riding
His hippo this morn.
Boehner’s in Congress—
He’s bitchin’ and moanin’.
And Newt’s out of town—
So, I guess, he’ll just phone in.
Governor Jindal’s
Gone into seclusion.
He’s getting a needed
Rhetorical transfusion.
Mitch M. is refining
His partisan skills.
McCain is out hunting
For earmarks in bills.
And where’s Sarah Palin,
The gal with the glasses?
Did she fall into
One of Alaska’s crevasses?
Oh dear! My oh my!
What’s the party to do?
Hey, are you busy now,
Mister Magoo?

  1. Love the new blog and your political verses. Laughing at some of these dingbats is sometimes the only way to cope with their ??*!&$#W !

  2. So happy that you're doing this. I wonder how long it will be before the right-wing conservatives start commenting? I do hope you're moderating ...

Love the last line about Mr. Magoo. The blind leading the blind as they say.

  3. Jama,

You're absolutely right--writing rants about and laughing at these dingbats is definitely my way of coping.

A children's poet I've been corresponding with said he hopes that I don't get any hate mail. I guess I'll have to wait and see. If I do get some inappropriate comments, I guess I'll have to learn how to moderate them.

  4. Another fun one! Methinks you'll never run out of material!

  5. Mary Lee,

It may be that I won't run out of material--but the question is whether I should be spending my time doing things other than writing political rants for a blog. At the moment, I'm enjoying writing these verses--so I suppose I'll do it while it's still fun.
